Expanding normal birth

Expanding Normal: Supporting Physiological Birth in Every Setting

What care providers consider as ‘normal’ in birth, is rapidly evolving. In the increasingly medicalized setting that women give birth in today, it can be challenging to support the physiological birth process. How can we, as birthworkers, support physiology when a woman chooses for an epidural and CTG monitoring is necessary? How can we approach the way that we work in the birthing space, in order to expand on the notion of what is considered ‘normal’?

To celebrate the milestone of 10 years of professional doulas in the Netherlands, the Dutch Professional Association for Doulas, NBvD, will host this international conference about supporting physiological birth in every setting.

With this conference we, as NBvD, aim to bring together a wide variety of maternity care professionals: doulas, gynaecologists, maternity nurses, midwives, childbirth educators and others; all are welcome!
